The pro version of Advanced Module Manager allows displaying modules on specific days and times.

Note: I have never used AMM. I only remember it had the option.

For articles
I don't know an extension specific for articles, however...
You may be able to achieve something to what you are looking for with AMM + Custom module + Articles Anywhere (same developer).
